New York has released its financial results for statewide commercial gaming and mobile sports wagering in September 2025.
In total, slot handle came to $507.9m, down almost $80m month-on-month but up 2.9% year-on-year, with $6.2m played in promotional credits. New Yorkers won back $460.9m on slots, resulting in a gross gaming revenue (GGR) of $40.7m, a slight increase from the $39.3m reported this time last year.
Table game drop came to $68.3m, down 6.1% year-on-year, with a GGR of $15.2m, up from last year’s $14.3m despite the average number of tables dropping from 290 to 283. Poker tables made $0.8m, and sports wagering made $0.9m, with a handle of $5.7m.
Overall, GGR came to $57.6m, up 3.1% year-on-year. Net revenue to operators reached $43.7m, with gaming tax totalling just shy of $14m.
Mobile sports betting handle in New York totalled $2.29bn, its second-highest to date, only behind October 2024’s $2.32bn handle record. It marks a return to form for the state, after June and July failed to meet the $2bn mark, and is the highest handle reported this fiscal year, which began in April.
Year-on-year, this reflects growth of 10.4%, and 11.9% growth month-on-month.
GGR totalled $193.8m, up 8.7% month-on-month, though interestingly reflects a 5.4% decline year-on-year.
By operator, Bally’s reported handle of $13m and GGR of $788,535, an increase in handle and a decrease in GGR. Rush Street Interactive reported handle of $45.9m, and GGR of $3.6m, both up year-on-year by 5.8% and 0.9%, respectively. ESPN Bet reported handle of $47.1m and GGR of $2.8m, up significantly from when it first reported last September, when handle only reached $4m and GGR $103,273.
BetMGM reported handle of $149.8m, up roughly $6m year-on-year, with GGR up by a similar amount, growing to $10.9m. Caesars reported similar figures, with handle reaching $152m and GGR $10.9m, though for this operator, this reflected a 3.3% increase in handle but 16.1% decrease in revenue.
Fanatics was the third-highest earning operator in September, with a handle of $219m, up 52.9% year-on-year. GGR growth was even higher, up 142.9% to $20.4m.
With time, could Fanatics pose a threat to DraftKings and FanDuel?
Of course, the US sportsbook market leaders reported the highest earnings in the state in September. DraftKings reported handle of $870.6m and GGR of $66.7m, up 10.4% and down 4.3% respectively. FanDuel fell behind in terms of handle, at $790.4m, $6m more than last year; however GGR exceeded that of DraftKings, making $77.6m. However, this also reflected a year-on-year decline, dropping 20.7%.
